My article, Pietree
Kings of Horror that is. According to Margaret Morehouse, Pietree Orchard in Sweden, Maine, was "bought by family" from the McSherry's who'd owned it for 73 years. Unfortunatly, Margaret's last name doesn't give a hint to who her sister is: Tabitha King, wife of writer Steven King.
At the crest of a hill on Waterford road, the view at Pietree is amazing. I visited with some friends the other day, and we walked through the orchard--in its first year of a three year organic certification--and made gurgling, horror-type noises from behind the apple laden branches.
